(UN)COMMON PATCHWORK

Let’s make OUR (UN)COMMON PATCHWORK together !

In collaboration with ABR we are setting up a sewing workshop station at the Afrobanana Festival on Thursday 4 July – Saturday 6 July.

We’re going to be making a shading device made of fabric to install at the first reception centre for asylum seekers at Pournara. We’re really excited to provide much-needed shade and relief from the harsh summer conditions for those living there.

We invite you to bring clothes, (bed) sheets, tent fabric or any other kind of fabrics you may have and you will not use it & join us in sewing together the shading device at the Agora* Installation of the Urban Gorillas during the AfroBanana festival.

We will provide materials & sewing machines but please bring along your own if you have one and join us in our small effort to build a better future.

*Agora is a mobile, modular structure funded by Commonwealth and designed by Urban Gorillas to serve as a platform for democracy and giving space for marginalised groups.

Special thanks to Sipone, Georgia Moditi, Monica Hadjivasileiou, George Kyrou for offering as lots of fabric to start with.
