Urban Gorillas will be presenting a paper together with Anna Merry from Frederick University at the upcoming Tenth International Conference on the Arts in Society at Imperial College London, 22-24 July 2015. This year the Conference focuses on ‘The Work of Art in the Age of Networked Society’.
The paper entitled ‘Art and Play: Promoting social interaction’ will demonstrate that experiencing playful artistic installations allows for heightened creativity and social interaction. ‘Art and Play’ examines both the aesthetic characteristics and positive social impacts of playful interactive art.
Arts in Society Conference Focus
The purpose of the annual Arts Conference is to create an intellectual platform for the arts and arts practices, and to create an interdisciplinary conversation on the role of the arts in society. It is intended as a place for critical engagement, examination and experimentation of ideas that connect the arts to their contexts in the world – on stage, in studios and theaters, in classrooms, in museums and galleries, on the streets and in communities.
