Green Urban Lab | Life in(side_outside) a Bubble
As part of the Green Urban Lab initiative to regenerate public spaces in our cities, Urban Gorillas NGO will be offering a temporary inside_outside space to be used for activities, artistic works and projects. Are you an artist or creative collective with an idea you’d like to share with the public? Are you an individual or a group that would like to have access to a free temporary space to host an activity of interest to youth, migrants and the general public in your city? Then we invite you to send us your proposal!
Criteria
In our current economic times we are think low cost-high impact solutions are the tools for urban regeneration. We are looking for creative and spatial interventions (in the form of events, workshops, artistic installations, etc.) that include the spontaneous involvement of passers-by. We are seeking site-specific proposals for activities that demonstrate innovation and creativity, both in the idea itself, and in the appropriation of the space in and around the inflatable. Proposals will also be selected based on their feasibility. Additionally ideas will be evaluated on how they will reach their target groups. By bringing creative activities to the street level, we seek to make them informal and part of everyday life, accessible by all. An interdisciplinary committee will review all proposals received and make the final selection.
The Sites
The sites we have chosen are centrally located, of cultural / historic significance and yet largely ignored in everyday life.

The Dates

What we will need from you
A short description of your idea / activity (150 words maximum)
A short description of how you will manage the activity (logistics, practicalities)
A short description of equipment/technical set up you will need, and related costs
A short description of how you plan to promote your activity
An indication of the target groups for your activity. How will you involve the public and passers-by?
Which venues, dates and times of day would you like to host your activity?
Will your activity be a one-off, or would you like to repeat it in more than one location?
Your proposal should not be more than one to two pages in length. We welcome photos and links as supporting material to accompany your proposal; these attachments must not exceed 3MB.
What we will offer in return
Use of the space within and/or around the inflatable at no cost
Technical support where possible to assist you with your activity
A small budget to assist in hiring equipment to facilitate your activity. The total available for all the cities and all the activities to be hosted is EUR4,000. This amount will be distributed among the final selection of proposals, according to the costs of each project / activity.
Communication support to assist you in promoting your activity
An opportunity to promote your group / work / activity at little-to-no cost
An opportunity to use a unique, innovative, ephemeral space to present your work
Networking opportunity with other groups and individuals involved in the project
